Students    

ANZIHLE Essay Competition 2009 
The ANZIHLE is offering a prize which includes student registration fees and assistance to travel to the ABA/ANZIHLE Conference, and one year's AABHL membership (including subscription to the Journal of Bioethical Inquiry).

Max Charlesworth Scholarship in Bioethics 2009 
The ABA is offering a prize which includes student registration fees to the ABA/ANZIHLE/AABHL Conference, one year's AABHL
membership and automatic submission of winning paper for consideration for publication in the Journal of Bioethical Inquiry 

 
The conference theme is intended to reflect an interest in the diversity of challenges that bioethics, law and related philosophical fields may have to face.  This diversity includes environmental, social, economic, cultural and technological challenges.  Suggested areas include but are not limited to:  The ageing population, reproductive ethics, neuro ethics, mental health ethics, resources/prioritisation, health information privacy, threats to research integrity, globalisation of research, environmental threats, developing world bioethics.

Abstracts are invited for presentation in either an ORAL or a POSTER session at the conference.  Oral presentations are limited in number and, at the discretion of the Conference Steering Committee, authors may be offered a poster presentation.
 
Abstracts will be accepted under the following categories:
 
Single Paper
Each presentation will be of a duration of 40 minutes (25-30 minutes for the presentation, 10-15 minutes for discussion).  Abstract maximum word limit 200 words.  See Single Paper Guidelines and Submission Form for further details.
 
Workshop
A workshop should consist of presentations from three or four authors around a topic.  Workshops should last for two hours.  Please submit an abstract describing the workshop topic (maximum 200 words) and a brief abstract for each presentation (maximum 100 words each).  See Workshop Guidelines and Submission Form for further details.
 
Panel
A panel should consist of presentations from two to three authors around a topic with responses from other authors, followed by a panel discussion by the authors and respondents, also including involvement from the audience.  A panel should last for two hours.  Please submit an abstract describing the panel topic (maximum 200 words), brief abstracts for each presentation (maximum 100 words) and response (maximum 50 words).  See Panel Guidelines and Submission Form for further details.
 
Poster
A poster session will be included in the programme and posters should consist of a title, an extended abstract, and contact information of the authors.  Accepted posters will be displayed at the conference and may be included in the conference proceedings.  See  Poster Guidelines  andPoster Submission Form for further details.
 
Publication
Authors are not required to submit full papers for this conference and while the proceedings of this conference will not be published, authors are encouraged to submit their papers to the Journal of Bioethical Inquiry.
